In the heart of Dungarpur, a tribal-dominated area with limited employment opportunities, Muskan Sansthan has been a beacon of hope for the last 12 years. We have provided care and dignity to 50 elderly residents, many of whom are widows, disabled, or abandoned by their families. These are the people society has forgotten, but at Muskan Sansthan, they find a family, a home, and most importantly, love.
Our residents have heart-wrenching stories that seem straight out of a movie. They come to us not just because they are old, but because they are unwanted. The children they nurtured and loved now turn their backs on them.
When their final moments come, we often hear their children say, “We have no relationship with them, do whatever you want.” This cold rejection is a painful reality we face too often. In the past 12 years, we have given dignified cremations to over 25 of our residents, ensuring they leave this world with the respect they deserve.
Running an old age home in such a challenging environment is not easy. The majority of the local population migrates to nearby cities for work, leaving behind their elderly. With limited resources and increasing needs, we are struggling to provide the level of care and comfort our residents deserve.
Imagine the pain of Mrs. Devi, a widow who was left at our doorstep by her son who never returned. Or Mr. Lal, who lost his leg and was deemed a burden by his family.
